Peer Review Process
Description
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Aceh Studies must represent original work and strictly adhere to our Author Guidelines. Every submission undergoes an initial desk evaluation by the Editors; manuscripts that are improperly formatted, off-topic, or unclear may be rejected without review. Qualified manuscripts are assigned to an Editor and evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers under a single-blind peer-review process. Authors can expect an editorial decision within 3 months, and invited revisions must be resubmitted within 2 weeks. The Editor-in-Chief retains final decision authority, and all manuscript materials are treated with strict confidentiality prior to publication.
Types of decision
Following the peer-review process, the Managing Editor will issue one of four editorial decisions: 1. Decline Submission, the manuscript is judged unsuitable for publication in the Journal of Aceh Studies, and resubmission is not permitted. 2. Resubmit, for Review The manuscript requires major revisions before it can be reconsidered. If the work shows strong potential, authors are invited to resubmit their manuscript as a new submission. The resubmitted version will typically be assigned to the original handling editor and may undergo a full round of re-evaluation. 3. Revision, The manuscript requires specific modifications before a final decision can be made. Submission Deadline: Authors must submit their revised manuscript within 2 weeks of receiving the decision letter. Response Requirement: A point-by-point response addressing all reviewer and editor comments must accompany the revised file. Note: Revised manuscripts may undergo further peer review. If the revisions fail to meet the required standards, the manuscript may still be declined. 4. Accept Submission, the paper is formally accepted for publication, subject to final copyediting and minor formatting adjustments to meet journal standards. Once final checks are complete, the manuscript is forwarded to production for publication.
Galley proof
Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author for final checking before publication. Corrections must be limited strictly to layout or printer errors; major edits to text, equations, or grammar may result in additional charges. Authors must return corrected proofs within three (3) days to avoid publication delays. The accuracy of all published content remains the sole responsibility of the author.
