Publication Ethics and Malpractice

Journal of Society Innovation and Development (JSID), is a leading peer-reviewed and open-access journal, online. The main objective of the JSID is to disseminate scientific knowledge and generate debate in an interdisciplinary context, linking the different areas of the social sciences. Thus, this contribution will help to the society’s development with a rigorous scientific basis, internationally proved. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in the journal, viz: the author, the chief editor, the peer-reviewer, and the publishers (Organisasi Relawan Endorse). This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. The essentials of JSID’s publishing ethics for all groups involved in the publishing process are as follows:

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed JSID is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society.

Organisasi Relawan Endorse as the publisher of Journal of Society Innovation and Development takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. In addition, the Organisasi Relawan Endorse and Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and/or publishers where this is useful and necessary. More ...click here

Editorial Workflow

The entire editorial workflow is performed using the Open Journal System (OJS). The editorial workflow gives the Editors the authority to reject any manuscript because of the inappropriateness of its subject, lack of quality, or incorrectness of its results. The Editor cannot assign himself/ herself as an external reviewer of the manuscript. This is to ensure a high-quality, fair, and unbiased peer-review process of every manuscript submitted to the journal since any manuscript must be recommended by two or more external reviewers along with the Editor in charge of the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication in the journal. The following is the Editorial Workflow that every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes during the course of the peer-review process.

Journal of Society Innovation and Development (JSID) relies on the peer review process to uphold the quality and validity of articles published. All articles submitted to JSID will be peer-reviewed. JSID adheres to a Double-Blind Peer-Review process that is rapid and fair and also ensures a high quality of articles published. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. More ...click here

Peer Review Process

Journal of Society Innovation and Development (JSID) , adheres to a Double-Blind Review process that is rapid, fair, and also ensures a high quality of articles published. Through the Double-Blind Review system, both reviewers and authors are anonymous. Author anonymity to prevent reviewer bias, for example, based on the author's country of origin or previous controversial work. Manuscripts written by prestigious or well-known authors are considered based on the content of their manuscripts, not their reputation. This statement is based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct and Best Practice Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers.

All manuscripts submitted to this journal will be reviewed by at least 2 (two) or more reviewers with the "Double-Blind Review" system. Authors should receive acknowledgment of receipt of their manuscripts after three weeks of submission. If the manuscripts passes the Editorial initial screening, the article is sent to two reviewers and the process takes about three to four months. Manuscripts accepted with minor or major revisions should be revised as the reviewers’ comments and suggestions. More ...click here

Reviewer Ethics

If JSID Editor-in-Chief has invited you to review a manuscript, please consider the following:

  1. If you accept, you must treat the materials you receive as confidential documents. This means you can’t share them with anyone without prior authorization from the editor. Since peer review is confidential, you also must not share information about the review with anyone without permission from the editors and authors;
  2. Not involve anyone else in the review of a manuscript, including junior researchers they are mentoring, without first obtaining permission from the journal; the names of any individuals who have helped them with the review should be included with the returned review so that they are associated with the manuscript in the journal’s records and can also receive due to credit for their efforts;
  3. Notify the editor journal as soon as possible if they find they do not have the expertise to assess all aspects of the manuscript; they shouldn’t wait until submitting their review as this will unduly delay the review process;
  4. Read the manuscript, ancillary material (e.g. reviewer instructions, required ethics and policy statements, supplemental data files), and journal instructions thoroughly, getting back to the journal if anything is not clear, and requesting any missing or incomplete items they need to carry out a full review;
  5. contact the editor journal if circumstances arise that will prevent from submitting a timely review, providing an accurate estimate of the time they will need to do a review if still asked to do so. But not intentionally prolong the review process, either by delaying the submission of their review or by requesting unnecessary additional information from the journal or author;
  6. Notify the journal editor immediately and seek advice if they discover either a conflicting interest that wasn’t apparent when they agreed to the review or anything that might prevent them from providing a fair and unbiased review;
  7. Be aware of the sensitivities surrounding language issues that are due to the authors writing in a language that is not their own, and phrase the feedback appropriately and with due respect;
  8. Consider the article from your own perspective. Ensure their review is based on the merits of the work and not influenced, either positively or negatively, by any personal, financial, or other conflicting considerations or by intellectual biases;
  9. Not make unfair negative comments or include unjustified criticisms of any competitors’ work that is mentioned in the manuscript; More ...click here
