Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies in Scientific Article Publication.

To maintain the integrity and originality of scientific work, the following policy applies to the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in article publications:

Use of AI for Language Enhancement:

  • Authors are permitted to use generative AI to improve the clarity, grammar, and style of their manuscripts.
  • Authors bear full responsibility for reviewing, editing, and verifying the accuracy of all AI-generated content.

Prohibition of AI as Authorship:

  • AI LLMs (Large Language Models) cannot be acknowledged as authors or co-authors in any publication.
  • Intellectual and scientific responsibility rests solely with human authors.

Disclosure of AI Use in Methods:

  • If AI is used in the scientific writing process, authors must disclose the use of AI LLMs in detail within the Methods section.
  • This disclosure should include the name of the AI tool used, its version (if applicable), and how AI was utilized in the writing process.

Declaration of AI Use at the End of the Manuscript:

  • Authors must include a statement at the end of the manuscript, before the References section, titled "Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies in the Writing Process."
  • This statement should provide1 complete transparency regarding the use of AI technologies in manuscript creation.

Prohibition of AI Use for Visuals:

  • Authors are strictly prohibited from using AI or AI-assisted tools to create or modify images or videos in submitted manuscripts.
  • All visuals in the manuscript must be created or altered by human authors without the use of artificial intelligence technologies.

Limitation of AI usage:

  • The usage of AI in the manuscript should be under 10% of the total manuscript.
  • Exceeding this amount of AI usage will cause the manuscript to be declined.

Policy Effective Date:

  • This policy is effective from Volume 1, Number 1, onwards.

This policy aims to ensure that scientific publications remain grounded in integrity, originality, and human author responsibility, while acknowledging the potential of AI tools as aids in the writing process.
